Dear All,
Yesterday I just wrote a quick letter, just to be in time with my computer time, but reading it myself I find it unclear with the objective.
Well, Indigo Women Links Tanzania, understood the problem of inability of women-especially rural women to express themselves. This happen even when we have members meeting. So what strategies do we use?
-We are so flexible and very informal when we need to collect ideas and make women heared. We let different groups in different places and time disscuss the same issue and responsible person collects and note down different views. Later the same issue will be brought to a meeting and chairperson can metioned the subjects and some ideas collected without mentioning names, then women automatically feel free to add their views as they find similar ideas had been mentioned.
Also the problem of women getting chance to participate in disscusion which touches their daily life is always under their spouse's opposition. They think they want to be politions or used by politions , something which they think is not right. To overcome this setback, that is why we are trying to be informal.
We are trying to organise activitiea centres of which we do products development and skills training, in which, members get at least one day in a week to visit and do something and chat with others about issues of their concerns. Those who can not visit, the group make arrangement to meet the person at their compund. Normally we let family members participate in a way and feel that they need to assist their mother or sister in her effort.
We also trying to close a gap between women in town and rural and between those who receive formal education and those without, by making easy to follow working stracture and leadership.
