My name is Zubair Faisal Abbasi. I work with APPNA SEHAT as Regional
Director. APPNA SEHAT is a primary healthcare project working in the rural
areas of Pakistan. We focus women and children in out target population.

INTRODUCTION:

- APPNA: Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America, established
in Michigan USA in 1976
- SEHAT: Scientific Educational Health and Administrative Training
- Started as NGO in 1989 in Murree, Mardan, Badin, and Sahiwal with Head
Office in Islamabad

WHY APPNA SEHAT

Diagnosis:  Health system is inequitable, curative, non-participatory,
non-educative, not-pro-poor etc.
Prognosis:  Positive - The system can be improved with community involvement
Treatment: SEHAT based on the principles of participation, education,
empowerment, equity, local resource development-mobilization, and
cost-effectiveness

Health Administrative Set-up:

500-550 Households for a Unit
All population registered
Households numbered
Local Staff
I Male Health Assistant; 2 Health Assistant, and 2 TBA


Our interventions are as following:

Immunization: Women & Children
ORS/ORT Training
Growth Monitoring & Promotion Of Children
Maternal Care: Antenatal, Natal & Postnatal
Child Spacing
Environmental Improvement
Water and Sanitation
Personal Hygiene Practices
First Aid Training
Prevention Of IDD
ARI Management
Hepatitis Prevention
Tuberculosis Prevention
